Women’s Track and Field Scholarships

You may be a fast sprinter, a powerful thrower or your school’s greatest long legged jumper, but that does mean that an athletic scholarship is guaranteed.  Many great track and field stars are never seen by recruiters or coaches and they don’t realize they missed their chance at a scholarship.

All college sport scholarships are competitive, because everyone could use some extra financial help with the astronomical cost of tuition.  There are thousands of other women promoting themselves to the decisions makers for each scholarship, so it is crucial that you stand out.

How to Get a Women’s Track and Field Scholarship

Getting a women’s track and field scholarship takes the ability to win under pressure, impressive stats, a solid plan to market yourself and a proven commitment to your education.

There are a limited number of women`s scholarships available so you need to either win crucial track meets with record breaking times or build strong relationships with college coaches that believe in your abilities.

Getting Noticed by Women’s Track and Field Coaches

You need to properly market yourself to entice college track and field coaches to become interested in you.  It starts by sending potential coaches a straight to the point introduction letter attached to a professional sports resume that will make them interested enough in you to remember your name.

Improve Your Odds of Earning a Women’s Track and Field Scholarship

You will increase you odds of obtaining a scholarship you need diversity and the ability to compete in multiple track and field events.  Coaches want athletes who are capable of making it to the winner’s platform in more than one discipline.  Coaches also want professional, coachable, hardworking track stars who have demonstrated that they will be beneficial to their program.

Make sure that you are giving yourself a fair shot by effectively representing yourself.  If you are not sure you can properly market yourself, then you should seek advice from an expert.  Your chances of a scholarship decrease significantly if you are not able to build a solid relationship with a potential coach.
